SALARY & EQUITY

Look beyond the biggest salary number.

A practical way to compare base salary, bonuses, equity, and an INR conversion without mixing them together.

Start with the role and the location

A salary range becomes useful when you know which job it describes. Write down the title, seniority, work location, employment type, and currency before comparing two offers. A US senior engineering range and an India graduate range describe different markets. Converting the currency does not make the roles equivalent.

On WILSY, open the company profile and read the example role beside its pay range. Follow the source to check whether the listing is still available and whether its location rules apply to you.

Separate the parts of the offer

Keep guaranteed base salary on its own line. Put a target annual bonus on another line, with the conditions for receiving it. Treat a one-time joining bonus separately from recurring pay. If an employer advertises a sales role using on-target earnings, ask how much is fixed and how much depends on results.

Equity needs its own questions: what instrument is offered, how many units, what vesting schedule, and what happens if you leave? A stated equity percentage is not the same thing as cash you can spend. WILSY does not assign a cash value to undisclosed stock or add it to a salary range.

Use a comparison sheet, not a single total

ComponentQuestion to ask
Base salaryWhat is the guaranteed annual amount and payment currency?
Annual bonusWhat is the target, and what determines the payout?
Joining bonusIs it one-time, and is there a repayment condition?
EquityWhat vests, when, and under which conditions?
Work arrangementWhich locations, time zones, and work permissions are required?

Read the INR estimate correctly

The INR number on WILSY is a reference conversion of the original published USD salary. It is not a local Indian offer, take-home pay, or a prediction of a bank’s conversion rate. Taxes, fees, benefits, and living costs are not included. The exchange-rate date is shown in our methodology.

For example, a hypothetical ₹1.43 Cr salary with a 10% target bonus contains ₹1.43 Cr in base pay and a separate ₹14.33 L target. Calling it a guaranteed ₹1.58 Cr salary would hide the bonus condition.

Make the final decision on the written offer

Shortlist employers using the directory, then compare the actual written offers against your needs. Ask the recruiter to clarify anything missing before you accept. The best comparison is the one you can explain component by component, including what remains uncertain.
